Kilim rugs, defined by their patterns and pileless flat-weave, are loved around the world for their bold colors and designs. This Constance adapts Hermès' Kilim scarf motif onto one of the most complex bags the house produces. Every surface has been adorned with Kilim inspired geometric patterns, taking inspiration from the namesake travel accessory of 'carpetbaggers.' The origin of this term, which has many mostly derogatory meanings, references luggage made of carpet material. Generally seen as cheap and low class, a carpet bag was a demarcation of an unwanted out-of towner. But over the centuries, carpet bags have become fashionable and carpet designs are admired for more than their use as floor coverings. This Constance takes the idea of the carpet bag to the highest level, rendered at the highest level of craftsmanship, this is a carpet bag that is means not for travel, but for show.
